At Long Beach Container Terminal, it’s not cranes or containers that make the difference, but the people. Every day, men and women show up driven by a shared sense of purpose: keeping operations safe, smart, and human-focused. By investing in training, fostering open communication, and empowering every voice, we have nurtured a culture where everyone knows they are essential.

Innovation in Action

Being part of the Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) isn’t just about moving containers, it’s about moving forward. We are constantly exploring smarter, cleaner solutions. Through our Net Zero 2030 Climate Plan, we’ve begun replacing diesel-powered equipment with electric cranes, yard tractors, rail cranes, and more. We have already deployed 18 electric ship-to-shore cranes, 69 electric yard stacking cranes, and 6 intermodal rail cranes.

Our fleet is now one of the cleanest in the country. These innovations are powered by cross-departmental collaboration and the shared belief that progress can be responsible.

Smarter by Design

At LBCT, we have built intelligence into the very core of our terminal design. We leverage cutting-edge tools to ensure every container moves with purpose. We have distinguished ourselves in sustainable terminal operations, blending speed with stewardship to reduce environmental impact while boosting efficiency.

Meanwhile, our unwavering focus on innovation inspires every team, from data analysts to crane operators, to think proactively.

Safety First

Safety isn’t something we just tack on, it’s the foundation of our terminal. With a “Safety in All Directions” philosophy, everyone is responsible for preventing accidents and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. Our commitment has earned LBCT recognition as an industry leader with multiple safety awards.

And in a world where external threats can arise, our C-TPAT validation ensures robust security protocols, reflecting the trust placed in us by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Community and Environmental Leadership

Our team doesn’t just power terminal operations. We are deeply rooted in community and environmental progress. LBCT’s commitment extends beyond gates and cranes. We have been invited to the White House to share insights on supporting net-zero transitions, and were awarded the Sustainable Innovation Project of the Year by the U.S. Green Building Council.

These honors reflect a belief that a smarter terminal should also be a responsible neighbor; one that protects its people, city, and planet.
